As we navigate the journey of building Olo, the question of “How do I find motivation?” often arises. It’s a question that many of us face, especially when the path ahead seems fraught with challenges and obstacles.
At Olo, we have had our fair share of setbacks and struggles in moving forward, especially when everything around us lures us into taking shortcuts. It’s hard, really; the temptation to compromise our vision for immediate gains can be very seductive. But we’ve learned through experience that easy usually equals dissatisfaction and a sense of disconnection from our purpose.
Markus & Catarina in 2015, dreaming of Olo
When we compromise Olo’s vision, both Markus and I feel it deeply in our bodies and perhaps in our souls too. This inner dissonance serves as a powerful reminder that staying true to our values is not just a moral choice but a necessity for our well-being.
Maintaining our standards and values in the face of financial pressures is incredibly challenging. We said no to a few opportunities that could have provided easy financial support but would have required us to compromise on what we stand for. The commitment to integrity is not an easy road, but it’s the one that feels right for us and aligns with our mission.
We are thrilled to share that Olo’s events during our time in New York for Techweek were a success. The encouraging feedback from therapists, founders, and investors has fueled our enthusiasm and commitment. There’s a growing interest in opening local chapters, becoming Olo ambassadors, and getting certified as Olo guides. If that excites you as well, please let us know by replying to this email.
On top of that, we had a proud moment with a billboard in Times Square putting Olo's message out there: "Easier than Meditation." It's a thrilling experience to share our vision with the world in such a prominent place.

So, how do we find motivation amidst these challenges? We reconnect with our purpose. We remind ourselves why we started Olo in the first place: to create a space for self-discovery, growth, and healing. We find strength in the feedback and support from our community, knowing that what we’re building resonates with so many of you. And we listen to our bodies, honoring their wisdom and guidance.
To all of you who are also trying to stay true to your values in a world that often pushes for shortcuts, know that you are not alone. It’s not an easy path, but it’s one that definitely leads to deeper fulfillment and a sense of alignment with your true self.
This week’s online practice is focused on exploring Motivation through body awareness and movement. No previous experience is required.
